Hello!
I am a singer/guitarist/keyboardist based in Brixton. I am looking either to join an existing band or form a new one, or just find another person to play with. I currently perform at open mic nights every now and then, but only performing cover songs: the tracks I usually play are Half the World Away (Oasis), Driftwood (Travis), Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry, True Love Waits (all Radiohead), Wicked Game (Chris Isaak) and there are plenty of other songs I half-know but would need to practise more to be ready to perform.
My favourite artists who I listen to most are, in no particular order, Radiohead, Scott Walker, Travis, Oasis, ABBA, Aphex Twin, The Beatles, Boards of Canada, Vampire Weekend, Big Star, REM, Smiths, Wings, Morrissey, Talking Heads, Doves, Pulp, Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, Bibio, Grizzly Bear, Harry Nilsson (and lots of other stuff too).
I'm not very picky about what I listen to and I like lots of different kinds of stuff, and would be very keen to learn new music or to learn to play a completely different style, or fill in for someone if needed. As you can see from the songs I play I mainly know alternative rock songs from the 1990s! But I would be happy to try anything.
I have been playing guitar since 14 and piano since about 10 (am now 26), and I think I have a good singing voice with quite a wide range. I have played in a band before but nothing serious and not for quite a long time. I have my own guitars, acoustic and electric, and an electric piano, and a few guitar pedals. I work full-time but would be willing to put time and money into something if it felt right.
Additionally, I would be very interested in putting together a Radiohead tribute act if anyone else knows a lot their songs? I'm surprised to see that there doesn't seem to be one anywhere in London if not the whole UK.
Please get in touch if you think I might have something you are looking for, and we could arrange a meet-up or you could come and see me perform at my next open mic.
Thanks!
Sam
