Hey all.
We're a metal band spread between York / Leeds and Sherburn and we're in need of a bassist.
We play something between Melodic Death Metal / Blackened Death / Doom and perhaps a touch of "post" something. Basically we write what we like and don't try to box it into a genre.
We need a bassist who can get to Leeds for rehearsals, normally they happen once a week or when we're all available. We don't dictate your basslines, you're the bassist, you know the instrument best, you write what you like as long as it works in the song.
Our songs tend to be very guitar led, myself and Rob the other guitarist, write them then bring them to rehearsal, we've had a couple of bass players in the past with different degrees of skill; the not so good just learn the root notes and take a back position, the really good ones add to the songs with their own style and really help the feel of the song, we know which we prefer.
I could write a list of bands as long as my arm to count as influences, but think along the lines of At The Gates, Swallow The Sun, Katatonia, Wintersun, Winterfylleth, In Flames, Insomnium, Cult of Luna, Obscure Sphinx, Pink Floyd, Fleshgod Apocalypse, etc, etc...
We currently comprise of two guitarists, a vocalist and a drummer. Myself and Rob are pretty competent guitarist, we don't do wanky solos, it's about the music not vanity. James is our vocalist, he screams and growls, think more black metal than death. And Steve is our drummer, who is better than any drummer you've played with before, not to blow smoke up his arse but he's good, really good, and we share him with a few bands from around the country, including a major one currently touring Europe, so some months we have to be inactive while he's away.
We have plans to record new music, and start playing shows again. Our usual gigs take us to Leeds / York / Manchester and hopefully some future ones will take us further afield.
If any of that sounds like your cup of tea then check out our music and drop us a line. You can find the tunes either from the website: https://scryre.co.uk/ or by searching "Scryre Isolation" on YouTube. Also keep up with what we're doing on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ScryreUK/
Thanks, Dave
