Looking to join an ambitious new project?
We're looking for a strong vocalist (in writing, singing and charisma) and any musicians (guitar, organs/keys, trumpet, saxophone, violins etc) that would be interested in writing as a collaborative consortium to write music that blends the dark and cinematic sensibilities of post-punk/goth music with soul, jazz, blues, funk, latin, dub and other genres of music. Something that could soundtrack a drunken excursion to the red light district.
We're after guys/girls that are serious about what they do as musicians, are experienced, committed and aren't just facilitators for other people's ideas. The nature of the band would be everyone contributing from their own respective corners to ultimately shape the sound, so any singer songwriters are welcome but know that everyone will have a say and input into crafting the best songs we can - We're there to make great music together and all pull our weight. We already have a bass player, a guitarist, drums and sax player involved and want to expand the collective.
Bands that I'd cite as being influences for now would be The Doors, Bowie, Boz Scaggs, Santana, The Birthday Party, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Jaco Pastorius, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Bonobo, Marching Church, Ice Age, Al Green, Prince, David Holmes, FRANK, Buena Vista Social Club, James Brown, Roxy Music, Interpol, and whatever might sit under that rather big umbrella of stuff. We want to create interesting and atmospheric music that flickers between several genres. Each of our members have very eclectic music taste and we really want to be able to flicker between styles.
We are after people that live and breathe music, people that play their instrument like it's an extension upon who they are and would die without it. We love to play and make music and we want passion to be a common trait throughout the band.
Ideally we're looking for a members between the ages of 21-30 as we're looking for mature and experienced musicians. However, this can be changed for the right person. We don't want to consider this project to be a hobby. We're very ambitious and really want the project to gather steam and go places. Between us we have good contacts for things such as getting shows when we're ready to get out there.
At the moment we are rehearsing once a week (Currently Saturday 11am - 1:30pm) in Wolverhampton City Centre as most of our members are based in the area. Hopefully you would be able to travel there but we can always discuss a new space to suit everyone. We aim to keep up rehearsals once a week going forward.
If you're interested or have any questions regarding the project that I may not have covered, please get in touch and myself and a couple of the other guys would be happy to explain better.
Cheers!
