Old traditions of singing, igniting new songs, new stories and new sounds.
THE LOST SOUND Dartmoor Folk Choir
We are a Dartmoor based, mixed voice choir, of 35 singers, performing at concerts and special events & festivals. We work on uniting Folk music with choral techniques of singing, to enhance and magnify each other. We aim to reconnect with an ancient element of singing and being in harmony with each other, maintaining the essence of what makes Folk music unique and creating a sound that is contemporary and exciting to listen to.
Are you an experienced community choir singer and want to go to the next level? The Lost Sound is fast paced learning with challenging parts for all singers. Do you want to perform more frequently at bigger venues? We are particularly looking for BASSES and TENORS at the moment to balance our sound.
Members of The Lost Sound speak of how they feel a sense of achievement from mastering the challenging parts and how they expand their vocal skills. The choir is a wonderful community where you can build friendships as well as make music.
In 2017, The Lost Sound have performed full concerts in Totnes, Tavistock, Kingskerswell, Lustleigh, Sidmouth Folk Week and Exeter Cathedral and have supported Show of Hands folk band at shows in The Royal Albert Hall, Wells Cathedral, Bristol Pavilions, Exmouth Pavilions, Exeter Cathedral and the main Ham Stage at Sidmouth Folk Week amongst others.
The Lost Sound rehearse on Tuesday nights in Buckfastleigh, Devon and subscription is £8 per week. Car sharing to rehearsal available where possible. Search the web for our site. Please do get in touch.
