Hello there, person reading this! I’m looking for someone to form a duo with - after many years of being in bands, I believe a duo is the best of both worlds in that you don’t have to organise lots of people, deal with members leaving, waste time looking for new ones (just look at all the bands on here looking for x role because someone left!), but you also still get that good collaborative creative input. I guess my vision for this is that we spend more time writing, recording (I have a mini studio with most equipment for basic stuff) and publishing songs to begin with, and once we have practiced and got a good sound down, we can look to start picking up gigs. I’m also not opposed at all to the duo turning out to be a trio or more - a duo is just a much better starting point because we just need to get along and can start writing songs together (instead of waiting for someone to fill in each individual instrument).
A bit about me: Am 31, main instrument was the bass guitar and drums, but now mostly play guitar and have had some vocal tuition too (although ideally we could both be vocalists as it makes for good variety!), I’ve played in a few bands since 16, done plenty of gigs, recording sessions etc., also have a classical music degree but I didn’t like it and so learned then forgot pretty much all of it… I like a variety of music, duos such as Daft Punk, Tears for Fears, Hers, Empire of the Sun, Black Keys, MGMT, Oasis (other members were backing band) - I’m basically up for trying any instrument based genre that isn’t too heavy, not that I don’t like it, songs like that just don’t come naturally to me.
I’m happy to commit several days in the week to this but also don’t mind if it’s less, being in a duo gives ‘practice’ a much more adhoc and laidback feel and am happy to go with that. Am based in Linlithgow right now but can drive to meet in Edinburgh or nearby areas.
But ye, basically to sum up, would be good to meet someone that is also interested in just writing and publishing music that we can be proud of and has our personalities in it, then start writing/publishing said music, and then start gigging (with a backing track if needed…).
