Cariwubia is a collaborative group of musicians and songwriters who's passionate about music and invention based in and near Bournemouth. Our music has punchy elements of punk with melodic textures of post punk (new wave) and other alternative genres like trip hop and lo fi with the vocals Incorporating with the grooves and rhythms of Caribbean, North and West Africa and East Asia with small proportion of western influences. We are including genres of music such as jazz, funk, folk, afrobeat reggae and latino etc with a punchy twist but still keeping to the African Caribbean core. Other influences and cultures are more than welcome to enhance and enrich our music. If you have some capability, flexibility and freedom of music feel free to contact me.
We already have songs written and and one being recorded. Female singer, bassist, two multi instrumentalists and percussionist awaiting for the missing piece which are as stated. Versatile guitarist and drummer with influences of West and North Africa, Caribbean and many more. We are looking for a guitarist and drummer who is rhythmically competent and enjoys getting in the raw emotional feel of music with the vocalist and the other musicians.
Our music is punchy and heavily driven by drums, percussion and bass as the key foundation of the music which in my opinion should be. As stated above we are looking for someone who is competent as in working out the keys to our songs by ear alone. Knowing the true value of space and simplicity, rhythm and groove within music.
With age the only requirement is must be 18 and over. Also with regards to getting to practice we base ourselves near the centre of Bournemouth and other transportation is available but limited to space and proximity to Bournemouth centre. If you don't have your own mode of transportation.
A bit about us. We are Jamaican, Barbadian/Nigerian/English, Thai/Swedish, American and English. One of us is a trans woman and the other is a woman who identify herself as a man. Is is also a safe space for the trans community within the Surrey area as advertised and in Bournemouth.
