Hi, I'm Ryan, 23, I play guitar (electric and acoustic), write original songs and sing a bit as well. I'm looking to find a female singer (songwriter a big plus) who can also preferably play guitar to write songs with. Age range probably 18-25. Wanting to go down a similar route to the band "Wolf Alice" but am open to other styles. Hoping to create a group of songs together with someone (and maybe develop any songs/ideas we already have) and then add other members i.e. bass player and drummer (which I may already have lined up) once we have a decent set of songs written that we're happy with. (I have been in other bands where I have had experience gigging etc. and find it's much easier and a lot faster to create, write and develop songs/ideas when its just two like-minded people together rather than 4 or 5 people in a room all going in different directions) Wanting to make a mixture of songs ranging from softer sounding to rockier/punkier sounding stuff with female lead vocals and then on some songs having a mix of us both with me doing backing vocals/harmonies. Hopefully we will develop our own sound once we start playing and get an understanding of each others musical tastes.
You don't have to be an amazing singer or guitarist or anything like that (I wouldn't class myself as being such!) just as long as you want to make great songs and have the desire to give the band a good shot of making it somewhere.
I have many influences apart from just Wolf Alice that include The Smiths, The Cranberries, Blur, The Stone Roses, Sleeper, The Joy Formidable, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, The La's, Early Coldplay stuff, DMA's, Oasis, Nirvana etc.... but honestly I like a lot of other stuff as well so don't be put off if you're not a big fan of any of the bands I mentioned.
I don't mind travelling for practices if you have somewhere. Alternatively I have a free band/practice room that we can use anytime in Gilberdyke or we can practice/record demos at mine. If you can't drive then both are in short walking distance from Gilberdyke train station. I have spare amps/guitars if needed.
Here you can listen to 2 songs I recently recorded by myself, not the best but at least they give you an idea:
This is a cover of "We're Not The Same" by Wolf Alice: https://soundcloud.com/ryanjw95/were-not-the-same-wolf-alice-cover
And this is just a half finished original song I'm working on: https://soundcloud.com/ryanjw95/are-you-coming-home-with-me-demo
I have many other finished original songs and song ideas of various styles to get us started or we can work on songs you may have or just jam and see what we come up with together.
If you're at all interested or want to know anything else, then feel free to message me on here or via text/whatsapp on: 07340517219 if that's easier, cheers, Ryan.
