Hi, I'm a 41-year-old dad of 2, guitarist, teacher, singer, songwriter with a pro live setup and a pro home-studio setup.
I’ve played in bands all my days and sold out a few decent venues in the past.
Done original work, cover work, and acoustic stuff over the years.
Now writing some of my best material, but the usual gang are all bringing up their babies—same as me. I’m not looking to take over the world, but I am looking for a drummer who will enjoy being part of the creative process of bringing these songs to life in a home-studio setting, with the intention of playing them live down the line (if there’s demand for that).
Style is Alt Rock.
I’m really into Scottish rock/indie bands like Aerogramme, Fatherson, Biffy, Xcerts, Wrest, Sucioperro, Orko, The Darien Venture, There Will Be Fireworks. I’m also into shoegazey post-rock like This Will Destroy You and We Lost The Sea. I like American emo/rock like Thrice, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, Four Year Strong. I like acoustic stuff like Charlie Simpson, Dave Thomas Junior, Glen Hansard. I like the English post-rock/alt scene from the 2000s like Hundred Reasons, Reuben, Oceansize. And I even like cheesy feel-good rock like Bil Muri, State Champs, Deftones, Nirvana, Locked Shut…The list goes on.
My songs are all in the writing stage in my DAW and I have demos I can send over to anyone who’s interested. I have about 10-15 songs written, but in various stages of being recorded. Drums are currently programmed using GGD, and we have the option of doing drums digitally if you have an e-kit—but I’m also open to using a studio for live drums.
Looking for someone aged 30–45, male or female. Someone fairly chilled who’s looking for a creative outlet with chill people. No major time commitments. No stresses. It’s all flexible with no deadlines, so easy to fit around your family/professional life. The ability to record yourself—via e-drums or acoustically—would be amazing. Backing vocals also a Brucey bonus. Must have your own pro gear. Pro experience would both live & in studio would also be desirable.
No wannabe rock stars please—I’ve no plans to sell my house and buy a white van to go on tour.
No “metal is the only genre” drummers—I’d prefer the drumming to be about the song rather than showing off technical prowess. Some songs may need it, but not all.
No MAGA or internet “bros”.
Based in Glasgow/Lanarkshire. Happy to work with someone further afield, but only remotely to begin with. Bass player already in place.
These songs have been gigged once acoustically to a really good response.
Any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
