I'm looking to start a band whose style is flexible. I'm not looking for any specific musicians in particular as I would love to work with people that play all kinds of instruments. Whether it be guitar or bass, drums, brass, woodwind or keys I believe all instruments could be put to very good use within the music that I write. I'm also open to the idea of less competent musicians joining as long as they share the passion for the songs and are creative-minded people.
I already have a lot of songs written, some of which I have recorded as demos (please just ask and I can send material to you). Regarding influences and inspiration I wouldn't direct it in any certain genre but the music I have been writing veers towards post punk and DIY disco. If you're interested in joining then just ask me about the artists I'm most interested in as writing a list of my favourite artists doesn't really seem to articulate what I'd like to achieve myself as a musician.
In terms of the themes I want to explore in my lyrics, I generally write about privilege, the welcoming of the end of the human race, self deprecation, white male incompetence. Mostly with tongue in cheek but I do believe it's important to check ones privilege and articulate it as best they can.
Please, people of all types feel free to inquire. Women, POC, LGBTQ+ are all welcome. I don't want this to be a macho white project. It helps if young people aged around 18-30 with progressive views apply because I would like that to be part of the band's image and what we stand for.
I have a guitarist and bassist on board but the bassist is a multi-instrumentalist so bassists can still apply. It would be great to find a drummer soon as it would create a good skeleton for the band to work from.
Message me with any questions.
Thanks
