Coventry based Guitarist seeking Bassist and Guitarist for a Gypsy Jazz trio.
We would be playing a variety of Standards in a Gypsy Jazz style. some musicians that come to mind would be of Course Django as well as The Rosenberg trio, Dorado Schmitt and Fapy Lafertin.
Although I would like the music to be of a high caliber and us to be dedicated it's important that it is fun and uplifting to play together.
I have a few venues that we could take a few gigs at. However given the popularity with Gypsy jazz I doubt the money would be the best at first. I would however like to look at doing a few bits of function work but if playing pubs and bars works for the three of us we could continue down that avenue.
As far as rehearsing and gigs go I would like to be able to get together once a week or fortnight to rehearse for a couple of hours.
With Gigs I think it would be possible in time to get a Gig per Month.
Guitarist- I am looking for some one to primarily hold down the rhythm. Whether you can read music or not you could hold the part down. The only thing that would be a must would be to have a good sense of time and feel.
If you where able to read or remember parts it would be useful as well to be able to play some improvised sections. Perhaps accompanying the melody of the head occasionally adding harmony or counterpoint. However, not essential.
Bassist- Having again a good feel and the ability to improvise would be a must, with a good knowledge of different ways to approach the accompaniment. Such as Walking, I-V, accents Etc... If you had an upright acoustic or a fretless that would be preferable to most accurately achieve the sound.
If either of the above sound like your Bag send me a message with any questions or information. If you have any of your previous music online send me the link. You can listen to some music I recorded last year at www.soundcloud.com/pettenuzzola. None of this music Is exactly of the Manouche variety but it will give you an Idea of my playing.
