We are looking for a female lead vocalist, preferably someone who has live performance experience as our present vocalist is sadly about to leave us. We are a local band that has been in existence since the beginning of this year, we have managed to develop a fab following of cool blues dancers in the south west area and have gigs lined up for 2024 we're planning to break out into the wider blues scene, including local, regional and, perhaps, even inter/national blues dance festivals,
This is not your typical, pub shouter, guitar driven, proud to be loud, blues bands for old blokes to sit on their bar stools sipping on their real ale waiting for their favourite, cheesy R&B tune.
This is all about performing a variety of traditional and contemporary blues tunes chosen specifically for people to dance to. The set list we have developed, (but which will be amended to accommodate the style, interest and ability of the new singer), comprises many sub genres of the blues including Chicago, Country, Delta, Texas, New Orleans, Protest and soul to provide the dancers with the variety they enjoy dancing to.
The set list runs from Etta James and Nina Simone to Katie Webster, from Howlin' Wolf to Portishead! Soulful, bluesy vocals are super important to the tunes. The current set list is available for reference, on request, as are clips of the current band performing.
The tunes are chosen for their variety and danceable tempos with input from local blues dancers/DJs , they all have interesting dynamics, stops and rhythms. They are not selected for their 48 bar guitar solos or cheesy, singalong choruses (well apart from the encore!).
Rehearsals will be arranged at a distance to suit all members, but most likely in the Bristol area.
If this concept is of interest and you are tired of performing the same old blues tunes in dingy pub back rooms and want to be involved in a band with real integrity with the opportunity to develop a scene following, then this could be the band for you.
There are regular blues dance events in the area which are very inclusive and a delight to perform to.
Give us a shout if this is your thang and we can see if we can make some groovin' blues magic.
As band chemistry is important, we'll arrange a social meet up to ensure we are all on the same page and get along well before committing to musical activities and hopefully developing some sweet blues music.
The band now comprises Drums Bass and Guitar with backing vocals and some lead vocals (which serves to take some of the pressure off the lead vocalist).
