Hi Folks
I’m looking to start a function band to end all function bands.
Quick bit of background info on myself: I’ve just graduated from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Songwriting. I’ve been a drummer for over ten years, loads of live/studio experience, i’m also a lyricist, self taught pianist, and I do some backing vocals here and there.
When I say function band, what I mean is a well oiled, experienced band that takes the music seriously, but not themselves seriously. It has to be fun of course, but the sound needs to be huge, and its members need to play/sing to a professional standard.
This is absolutely a money making project, from weddings to corporate functions to holiday camps etc. I play music because I love it, but why not make some dolla whilst we rock?
Music wise, the idea centres around a set for every decade, 1970’s, 1980’s, 2000’s etc, so if we were booked for say a themed event, we can tailor the set to suit it. Or more general events can have more of a mix. Because of this, players must have diverse influences and be open minded to song suggestions. There won’t be anything in there that people don’t want to sing or dance along too, but you need to be adaptable and prepared to play a wide variety of music, even thinking about arrangements for modern pop, but in a live band setting.
If this is something that interests you, then message me here and we can chat further! Whether you are keys players, guitarists, bassists, vocalists or Mongolian hunting horn enthusiasts, I wanna hear from you!
This has the potential to be incredibly fun, and very lucrative.
Thanks for reading.
All the best,
Jack
