Afterthought are searching for a lead guitarist to take their sound to the next level.
Successful applicant will:
*Be able to play melodies or emphasise chords during vocal sections without fighting the vocalist for the listener's attention
*Be able to cope with complex song structures and shifting time signatures
*Be able to play "musical" solos that match the feel of a song in terms of the emotion to be conveyed
*Be able to play lead lines and/or solos over riffs as well as chord progressions
*Have own transport or be able to travel for studio rehearsals and out-of-the-studio get-togethers for writing
*Be able to practice with the rest of the group every couple of weeks (more leading up to gigs if necessary)
*Know when it is best to play something simple, or nothing at all
There is plenty of scope within our songs for a lead guitarist to display their full range of skills with some songs being slow and almost acoustic, to songs with lots of overdrive and lots of double bass pedal from the drums.
Here are 2 videos to highlight what we're looking for:

We're not at the musical level of the artists in the solos video but it gives a good indication of the sort of flavour we're looking for in a lead guitarist.
Our old material can be found at www.soundcloud.com/afterthoughtbanduk but they are with an old lineup. We now have a pianist/keyboardist in place and we are currently looking for a new drummer and vocalist.
2 covers we would like to incorporate into our sets are Blackest Eyes by Porcupine Tree and Mask Machine by Flying Colors. Those would give another good indication of the direction of our sound.
I hope that's enough information...
