Keys / Keyboard (Committed) Player wanted for Pop, Rock & Disco pub/Function Band.
We are looking for a Keys/Keyboard player… not just any Keyboard player but a person who is enthusiastic and committed to joining a serious pub and function band based from Bromley (Kent).
Would you be interested in working with a brand new local Rock/Pop/Disco band?
We are in development of a new band that will perform high energy cover songs (ie. dance floor filler material) ranging from pop, rock and disco hits from the 60’s up until present day (examples of our material further below).
We will aim to do a regular pub circuit to start with until we are tight enough and have gained enough exposure as a unit to venture into functions. The aim long term would be to register with music agencies, however, from experience most function gigs come from word of mouth so we must begin our journey in pubs. We already have a few contacts within known local music drinking venues and will be selective of our venues to ensure the best money and clientele (ie. No dives or playing venues for the sake of it).
All net revenue from gigs will be equally split. To give you some idea, pub gigs will start at a minimum fee of £50 each (per musician) in the beginning which will increase when we are more established .
Each musician must have pro gear, and as a band we have a PA and Lights etc and have all been on the semi-pro circuit for many years.
The Bands marketing materials (i.e. Photos, Audio & Visual essentials for Web etc.) will be on the horizon as soon as we are up and running and we will need to split the cost of this. However, we will try to fund this through the first initial gigs and keep this as cheap as possible whilst retaining quality.
The aim of this band is to be as professional as possible whilst still enjoying ourselves and sharing a common interest doing something we love.
About you, the ideal candidate will:
• Be aged from early 20s to early 40s
• Be happy to perform in areas such as (but not limited to): Bromley, Beckenham, Croydon, Purley, West Wickham, Greenwich, Bexley, Crystal Palace. We may go further afield for gigs which are worthwhile but this will be discussed as a band before any booking is taken on.
• Communication is essential. Text, WhatsApp and email responses are all fine but within a reasonable time frame (24 hours). We don’t want to have to repeatedly chase / prompt any band member for a response to simple messages.
• Be of a high standard and able to deliver up to 2 x 60 mins sets.
• Have transport to and from gigs **ESSENTIAL** if you can't get to and from gigs on your own (ie you drive and have a car, or partner or other family member prepared to drive on all occasions), please don't apply. Sorry to be stubborn over this, but it’s caused problems in the past.
• Own pro gear in full working order suitable for pubs and higher end gigs. You will be responsible for supplying, maintaining and repairing your own equipment.
• Have YouTube / Vimeo/ Website videos of performances we can see. If you don't have any video material online (it can even be a smartphone recording - don't worry about quality - we just want to see and hear you perform live) then please do not apply.
• Be a good team player and fit in with other musicians, able to be proactive in assisting with the setup and break down of the band equipment at each gig.
• Have suitable smart stagewear as appropriate (weddings, functions etc as well as pub gigs).
• Be able to commit once gigs are booked. We work on a first come first served basis. i.e: we have no issue with you having side projects but if you have already committed and agreed to a gig with us then you must attend and not let us down!
• Be able to commit as a preference to this band. In case you do perform with other projects that’s no problem, but we’re not looking for a dep, we’re looking for a regular and secure member of the band.
• Be able to rehearse on a regular basis in the beginning – weekday evenings usually - we normally book rehearsals in Bromley and everyone is expected to come along knowing their parts.
As a band we will split the cost of the hire for the rehearsal space each time we meet to rehearse. We envision this cost being no more than £10 each per musician per rehearsal.
Please note: once we are up and running and have had a few gigs, rehearsals will only be needed for learning new material or if we have a lull period between gigs (just to keep up to scratch).
• Have no distractions or excuses (within reason) preventing you from learning band material or practicing the songs at home. Everyone else will have learnt their part so it’s really frustrating and not fair if one member hasn't got their section together in time for rehearsal.
• We warn you this next point is a bit marmite (you’re going to either love it or hate it) but we want to find players who are happy not to drink alcohol whilst performing. One pint maximum during the evening is fine, but we are after a professional player who can perform without the need for multiple glasses of alcohol. We are serious musicians and at the end of the day when we are gigging we are working and each band members behaviour reflects on the band and our reputation.
Also, as I’m sure you would agree, no member of the band should be drinking alcohol and driving so hopefully this won’t be an issue.
• Also, it goes without saying. Absolutely NO illegal drug use whatsoever will be tolerated!!
If the above sounds like you and you’d like to discuss the positon further, please do get in touch.
PLEASE don't apply if you’re not as described above and looking for a long term commitment. If “you’ve played bass a bit” or your only experience is in a “dad band” this is unfortunately not what we are looking for. If you are not “into” the Rock, Pop and Disco genre and don't have the desire or skills to correctly and accurately play the songs in these genres then please do not apply.
To give you a taste of some of our set list, here are a few examples of the type of songs we will be performing:
Living on a Prayer – Bon Jovi
Don’t Stop Believing – Journey
Want You Back – Jackson 5
We Are Family – Sister Sledge
Carwash – Rose Royce
Uptown Funk – Bruno Mars
Mr Brightside – The Killers
Let Me Entertain You – Robbie Williams
