One of hell’s most successful pilot programs here on earth is the music industry, where the precious gift of song - which, given the entirety of human history, is one of our few credible justifications as a species - is flash fried in the molten lard of late capitalism. Nothing comes out of that grease trap intact, and nearly all paths end unremarkably. Endeavor to find an audience and suddenly you need stickers, flyers, engaging social media accounts, video editing software, a ring light, professional portrait photography, fashionable attire, well quaffed hair, a flair for self-promotion and knack for glad handing, quid pro quo social maneuvering. Like any business, it's all about salesmanship.
And, ya know, that makes me wanna dive into the sea with cement boots on.
None of this is my forte, I've no idea how to launch a promotional blitz as a shy person. A friend joked recently that what my music really needs is a mascot, some highly attractive person I can make into an avatar for my songs and use in all the promotional materials. If you wanna be that mascot, please, inquire within.
All kidding aside, what I'm really looking for are collaborators to write and record with, especially singers. With a little help, I'm on track to have an EP ready for release soon, or an album this summer. I'm reluctant to then begin rehearsing to play live shows, but I could probably be talked into it if the chemistry was there.
