Guitarist/vocalist required for duo - using backing tracks
About me:
I am an experienced musician who has worked on a semi-pro and pro basis since I was a teenager. I have worked in everything from a duo (twice) through trios and 4/5 piece bands to a seven piece function band, I have covered most music genres. I have done plenty of dep work and am used to flying by the seat of my pants! More recently I have been working all over the UK as drummer and harmony vocalist with a 50’s/60’s rock&roll band.
I believe in entertaining an audience which sometimes means playing something that is not necessarily a favourite of mine but I adopt the point of view that the listener is the most important one.
I have spent most of my musical career as a drummer but also play Cajon and a mean tambourine! I also play a bit of electro acoustic guitar (badly in my opinion). I am a good harmony vocalist but also happy to sing lead to share the load if required.
What I am looking for:
This might be a tall order and I accept that I may not get many replies but I am keen to find a duo partner who plays guitar and sings. The key aim is to work regularly and anyone looking for a jam session or playing for fun should not reply. I am a gigging musician who plays for a fee (other than bona fide charity gigs) so people with a similar attitude is what I am looking for. If you are a versatile (perhaps seasoned) player who can sing there is in my opinion a good opportunity for a professional sounding duo that can offer both small and larger venues a quality crowd pleasing act. I have worked twice in a duo like this and know that it has legs.
Equipment:
I have a full pa/monitor/mixer and even have a spare SM58 mic and mic stand – all you need is a guitar and voice!
And finally..... If you have read this far well done (I might have died of boredom), anyone who hasn’t read this far probably isn’t for me anyway. I am Bexhill based and logistically it makes sense to pair up with someone locallyish in East Sussex, however West Sussex/Surrey and Kent may be viable also. I am not afraid of travelling anywhere but only if it is worth it financially.
I am ok with rehearsing but consider this to be a fast track project as we are both likely to know most songs in a standard set list and should both be able to gel (musically at least) quickly. I am available during the day or evening to meet up.
Age, race, religious beliefs and favourite brand of car are immaterial – but you do need to be capable, keen, have a professional view to performing and want to get on with things (I appreciate that I am not describing the stereotypical muso!). A jaundiced sense of humour may make the whole thing work smoother I guess, but is not essential.
Thanks for reading to the end
