Hi there! I'm looking to start a band once we're out of this lockdown! I've been in bands before and have always been 'meaning to start playing again' but lockdown has finally given me the push to start playing again.
In short, I want to make short, sharp pop songs that are rooted in punk and jangle pop. That probably sounds a bit unspecific so here's a list of bands I'm influenced by:
Guided by Voices, Car Seat Headrest The Beatles, Weezer, Pavement, The Cars, Modest Mouse, Beach Bunny, The Dismemberment Plan, Pixies, The Replacements, Nirvana, Fontaines DC, American Football, IDLES, Pavement, Liz Phair, Slint, Blink-182, Murmur-era R.E.M, Daniel Johnston, The Modern Lovers, Game Theory, Big Star, Built To Spill, My Bloody Valentine, C86 music (especially The Bodines), Alvvays, Best Coast, T-Rex, The New York Dolls, David Bowie, Cocteau Twins, Courtney Barnett, Deerhunter, Vampire Weekend, PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth, among others.
Sorry if the above is a bit of a stream of conscious ramble - I just love all kinds of music and seemed limiting to only name a few bands! I am also a HUGE Beatles & Beach Boys fan and would be looking to find people who appreciate pop music as much as they appreciate weirder stuff (Death Grips, Algernon Cadwallader, Cap'n Jazz). Basically, if you like music with big dynamic shifts, catchy choruses and 'walls of noise' we should have a chat as I'd love to start making music along these lines!
I've got quite a few 'loose songs' written but really looking for someone to collaborate so we can develop songs together. I've also got a basic understanding of music production (mainly through using Ableton Live and recording guitar through DI - sorry if this is sacrilegious!).
Anyway, ramble over - would love to meet people who are interested in creating some snappy, smart indie-pop, with a view to be playing gigs. Aware at the moment we can't meet up and jam but would be good to exchange some emails and maybe do a skype meet or in-person meet when the rules permit!
