Colchester based guitarist looking to form Rock/Punk covers band.
I'm a 44 year old rhythm/lead guitarist TRYING to put together a covers band in or aound colchester.
Been in bands for the last 10-15 years, gigged mainly around Colchester and in Ipswich occasionally.
Looking to put together a bunch of likeminded musicians to play rock/punk covers ranging from 60s to 00s mainly.
Thinking along the lines of:
Rolling Stones
Led Zeppelin
T-Rex
Green Day
The Who
Deep purple
The Ramones
Feeder
Hole
Bad Company
Foo's
Royal Blood
Electric six
The Black keys
U2
Joan Jett
Wolfmother
The Clash
Reef
Billy Idol
Bryan Adams
White Stripes
KoL
Hendrix
AC/DC + many more.....
Nothing is set in stone, its all gonna be collaborative, everyone will have a say.
Good fun, good vibes, no egos.
Looking for:
A good rock style drummer who can keep proper time, not a shed builder, needs to be able to play with dynamics.
A bass player of a good standard, able to lock in with a drummer and drive the backline. Not expecting to find a Flea type player in colchester area, but you'll definitely get to shine if we choose songs accordingly.
A guitarist of a decent standard, either sharing Rhythm/Lead duties or sitting into one or the other if it suits. I'm not after a shredder, but if you can keep time, pull a solo out when needed and can put on a bit of showmanship then great.
A singer, this is the toughest position to fill!
If you can sing somewhere between Brian Jones of AC/DC and Paul Weller, this might be for you.
Bonus if you also fill an instrument requirement too, eg singer/bassist, singer/guitarist, singer/drummer.
The aim is to do covers, not necessarily note for note renditions, so if we have to make a change to a song to suit us, eg change the guitar solo or a change of key to suit vocals, or other parts, that isn't off the cards either.
Decent gear and transport is a must!
You need to be able to get you and your gear to where we need to be, whether that's rehearsals or a gig.
Gearwise, not expecting everyone to have top gear, likewise a 20W solid state amp or budget gear ain't really gonna cut it for gigging.
I know that's a lot of specifics, but the idea is to put together 4 or 5 experienced musicians with gig experience and gig ready gear to start a decent covers band.
Rehearsals will likely be at Unit One or Black Cactus in colchester area.
Ideally weekly as and when its suits us all and provided we can get a room booked.
Worst case we can use Stag at Witham for the odd occasion where we cant get a room at U1 or BC.
Drop me a message if you like the sound of this.
Cheers
Dan
