I’m a "older" guitarist and occasional "vocalist" based near Maidenhead, looking to find like-minded musicians for a loud, energetic original project.
Broadly thinking post-hardcore / punk / noisy alt-rock / heavy post-punk rather than metal for metal’s sake. Influences in the general area of Quicksand, Fugazi, alexisonfire, Gallows, Deftones, early BMTH, Cancer Bats, Hüsker Dü, Killing Joke, The Smiths if they had used soviet russian big muffs, and the more melodic end of hardcore.
I’m in my early 50s and a relative grown-up: experienced, reliable, decent gear, good job, transport, no interest in rock-star nonsense, ( been there bought the t-shirt), endless pub covers, or rehearsing once every six months and calling it a band.
Important disclaimer: I cannot sing. I really cannot sing. People hear me say this and go, “it can’t be that bad, everyone can do karaoke., it will be fun” Then they make me do karaoke, and they never raise the subject again. I can growl/bleugh/shout though, so if the brief is “uncontrolled emotional damage over loud guitars”, we may be fine, for a song, then the gimmick wears off.
Happy to play guitar, bass, write, contribute riffs (v. good at this bit), make ugly noises, or share vocal duties depending on who turns up.
Looking for drums, bass, second guitar, and/or actual vocals. Age not important, but attitude is: solid timing, good taste, volume tolerance, and willingness to write songs.
Aim would be to rehearse around Reading / Maidenhead / Windsor area, get a tight set together, record some rough demos ( I have kit), and see where it goes.
Not looking to make a living from it. Very much looking to make a racket that sounds like people meant it.
