# Guitarist & Drummer Wanted – New Blackened Speed Metal Project (Lincolnshire)
I'm (40) and my vocalist (42) are starting a new **blackened speed metal** project from the ground up.
We're currently in the **concept and songwriting stage**, so this is a chance to help shape the band's sound from the very beginning.
I'm also **returning to music after not playing for a number of years**, so if you're in a similar position and looking to get back into playing, don't let that put you off.
We're looking for:
* Guitarist
* Drummer
**Players of a similar age (roughly 35–55) would probably fit best**, but if you're outside that range and like what we're trying to build, you're still welcome to get in touch.
## The Vision
Fast. Raw. Dirty.
We're aiming for a blend of **blackened speed metal with a strong DIY attitude**. Think the energy of an underground rehearsal room rather than a polished modern studio.
The goal is to create music that sounds dangerous, honest and aggressive—capturing the spirit of early underground extreme metal.
## Influences
Our influences include:
* Venom
* Motörhead
* Early Bathory
* Hellhammer
* Celtic Frost
* Exciter
We're inspired by the rawness of first-wave black metal, the speed of early speed metal and the DIY ethos of the underground scene.
## Lyrics
The songs are inspired by the Viking Age and Norse folklore, focusing on:
* The North Sea
* Longships and sea voyages
* Shield walls and close combat
* Storms and shipwrecks
* Pagan beliefs and rituals
* The occult and old legends
* Fate, death and survival
This isn't fantasy or Viking hero worship. The lyrics tell dark, atmospheric stories inspired by the harsh realities of the period.
## DIY Mentality
We're not looking for virtuosos.
We're looking for people who want to build a band.
Passion, commitment and attitude are more important than flashy solos or technical perfection.
We want to write original music, rehearse regularly, record our own demos, play gigs and build the band from the ground up with a proper DIY mentality.
