Looking for a rhythm guitarist/backing vocalist to join an established originals post-punk/alt rock band based in Leeds/Bradford. We've got music already written/recorded (our first EP will be coming out soon), but we're looking for someone who can really bring their own style & personality to the role and join our creative partnership going forward!
A bit about us:
-Based in Leeds/Bradford (we usually rehearse at Pirate Studios in Bradford every 1-2 weeks but we're pretty flexible around the area)
-Aged between 32 & 42
-Influenced by the likes of: Manic Street Preachers, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Maximo Park, Siouxie & The Banshees, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Cure, The Clash, Bloc Party, Placebo (I'm aware that this probably doesn't give you a fantastic idea of exactly what we sound like lol, but we all have numerous individual influences & our goal was never to sound like any one specific thing).
-Have been playing gigs around West Yorkshire for the past 2 years & looking to increase our regularity
-We have recorded an EP which will be released around April/May, with the first single out in March.
-We're aware we're likely not gonna take over the world, we just all love writing and performing music and want to find someone similar so we can all keep contributing to our awesome local scene!
-You can find some live videos & recordings on our Facebook page if you want to know more! We're called These Beggars.
Things we require from a potential band member:
-A relatively solid guitarist - obviously the more skilled the better, but as long as you're comfortable playing chords, arpeggios & relatively simple lead parts you'll be fine! We don't need flashy solos or anything.
-Comfortable singing backing vocals - both shouty punk stuff and more intricate harmonies
-Enjoy playing with feedback & own at least some effects pedals (this is quite a big part of our sound)
-Some experience playing in bands previously
-Be reliable, and also somewhat flexible when it comes to rehearsals - we don't always rehearse on the same day each week (obviously if there are days you definitely can't do that's fine & we can work around that)
-Happy to play gigs with us regularly (obviously lol)
-Own transport is preferred but not absolutely essential, as long as you are able to travel to and from rehearsals & gigs (be it public transport or whatever)
In an ideal world, we think adding female backing vocals would be an awesome addition to our sound, but we're happy to accept people of any gender!
If any of this sounds like you, then please don't hesitate to send us a message with:
