Guitar Wizards
The Magpie
A new midlands (Kenilworth) based originals project is looking for the final piece/s to our line up.
Bass, Drums, lead vocals sorted - now we want to add a noisy guitar wizard to compete the set.
We’d also be open to having a synth player - ideally someone interested in adding layers and sounds.
ROCK / PUNK / GRITTY / FUNNY / WHIMSICAL.

We have Birmingham City University music industries backing us and helping with our marketing / media / content / concept / online presence etc.. it’s a great opportunity for musicians with big aspirations.
We’re looking for people age 20-50.
We’re super open people, genuine, heartfelt and always full of jokes and humour. We create a good, fun environment to be creative.
Please only apply if you have time to focus on the project - we’re not up for people in more than 2 bands. If you join us you do so with the desire to be invloved in as much as you can with creative ideas, concepts, direction, social media, content and marketing ideas (as I say we have people to lead that side of things but you have to be at least willing to be involved - no ‘silent members’. Whilst you don’t have to be in the forefront of future media content, we will be making a lot of clips and reels so you will feature (but you can easily be in the background if you prefer, just that you’re there and present. You don’t even have to talk if you don’t want to - but will be filmed when performing and in studio rehearsals.. you know how it is these days guys. It’s all content, short form media etc.. so you either do it as a band or you don’t get anywhere! We hate doing this stuff but it’s the current way!)
Our aim is to record and release the songs so please be willing to be part of the writing and recording process as well as helping out with release strategies etc!
If you’re looking for a hobby band - we take this way more seriously than that! Whilst we have a lot of fun doing this - and we really do.. we’re not necessarily doing it ‘for fun’. We’re gonna push the songs as hard as we can - as the hooks, energy and honesty of the songs have a great commercial potential.
So please, only looking for who are up for at least tying to doing something mad, crazy, and utterly awesome!
We won’t pay you - but if you’re the right person / people we will split all proceeds fairly and equally.
I am egalitarian and believe all members are as important as each other - especially if you’re involved in the wider ‘business’ side of the band - and yes guys, if you wanna sell your music you have to look at it as a business.

These are rough demos — everything will be re-recorded from scratch.?Vocals/lyrics will stay, but arrangements will evolve.?There’s a huge spread of emotion and tone across the songs — from rage (“First Slow,” “Deep State”) to melancholy (“From Myself,” “City Lights”) to playful whimsy (“Crafty Cockney,” “Superman”).
The only band I’ll mention as a guiding inspiration is Gorillaz — genre-fluid, visually driven, identity-led. Not because we’ll sound like them, but because they represent freedom.
