Hi
I am replying to your ad for a Golden Oldie Lead Guitarist which I am really interested in.
I am retired and I am available during the day for rehearsals etc. I am 69 but still have my hair and teeth! I live in Wickham near Fareham.
The kind of player you are looking for is a great fit for me I think. I have been in a number of band, duos etc in my time, having started playing in the 60's when I was in my teens. My first band was playing lead guitar in south London when I was just 17. Still playing, as well as teaching too which I have done for a number of years. I love the old songs and some of the new ones too - not too keen on metal or rap but anything else considered. My heroes include Clapton and Knopfler as well as Chuck Berry, Chet Atkins and James Taylor.
I have a small collection of guitars which includes a USA Strat Plus, G&L Tele and Taylor acoustic. I am quite at home playing standard riffs and solos, but like to improvise and create fills etc I my own way, which I can do in any key. I have a Roland Blues Cube Stage which is fairly new having finally moved on from the "valves".
I have taken a few grade exams mainly prior to teaching and have achieved a grade 8 acoustic / grade 5 electric guitar with the RGT/LCM. My guitar work has improved since then, and it should be said I would have gone further with the electric guitar but the course went into jazz big-time which leaves me cold!
I have a website for my teaching but there are some "sample tracks" there, which may give you some idea of my style: www.garrydraper.co.uk. Please feel free to take a look.
Many thanks
