Hi all,
Looking to start a rock/blues-based function band with the long-term goal of maybe making it a professional operation (I emphasise long term here. It will take time).
We all know what life can be like: work, eat, sleep, repeat...what if that work could be the same thing as your passion?
My goal is to start a band doing 60s and 70s blues-based rock (think the classic rock era) and be damn good at it. Create the vibe, practice the material, then go out and smash the local scene, then see where things go from there. There is strong demand for this kind of music. That era created something that is almost untouchable and I want to recreate some of that magic.
Need musicians whose musical tastes align and have the same level of commitment and vision as I do. Things will start off slow, obviously, but I believe that if you get musicians in a room who can create that magic together, the rest will fall into place. Focus on the art first, get that to a good enough level, then all the boring logistical stuff will follow after.
I’m in my 30s and can make a solid commitment to this if I can find the right people. I do have other musical projects on the go, but this could be the main event if things work out.
This whole idea could benefit from any professional musicians that already know what it takes to make a living or earn money in this space: but please don’t be put off by that if you are a talented amateur looking to take things to the next level (which is where I am at basically).
I play lead guitar, a bit of harmonica, and working on my backing vocals.
The key positions that need to be filled would be:
1) Lead singer (preferably male with a husky, soulful distorted rock/blues voice)
2) Rhythn guitarist (got no problem sharing lead for dual solos and mixing of styles)
3) Bassist
4) Drummer
Secondary positions that would be great to have on board:
1) Keyboard
2) Sax player
3) An experienced harmonica player
