LOOKING FOR FULL TIME DRUMMER TO JOIN INDIE POP/ROCK BAND
Hi there,
We’re Divided Compass! An Indie Pop/Rock band based in London (Majority South East/East).
We’re currently in the process of looking for a new Drummer, as our current one is looking to leave to focus on University and other Projects.
Small bit about the band!
So we’re a 6 piece (Vocals, 2x Guitar, Keys and Drums) all in our 20s.
Myself (Vocalist) and one of the Guitarist have been performing live with the the current drummer for exactly a year now (properly). Our live persona takes on a bit of a mainstream pop vibe whilst also incorporating elements of rock (Loud Treble boosted Guitars, Guitar solo’s and Groovy Basslines).
Our influence range from 60s/70s/80s Pop/Rock (The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple, Rory Gallagher, Rainbow, The Smiths and The Cure) to more Modern Alternative Pop/Rock acts from mid 00s and 10s (Bastille, Coldplay, The Wombats and The 1975).
When performing live we tend to do an assortment of originals and covers, dependent on the set time. (30 mins and under tend to be more originals based).
So that was more than a small bit 🤣 now on to the “what we’re looking for” bit.
We’re looking to get a Drummer at least within a moderate / advance level.
Respectfully, it would be preferable if we could get someone at least within their early 20s (21-26) as that’s the age range we feel most comfortable within. That’s the only “discrimitive” (as some would say) point I’d just like to clarify.
The most important thing though is someone who is able to keep to a consistent groove whilst also adding little unique touches to the beat. previously/currently our drummer tends to do a lot with the toms and cymbals in fills and just overall incorporated these bits appropriately like added percussion, sometimes syncing with the guitarist who may do little things here and there percussively.
Obviously, all musicians are different and we’re not looking entirely on someone who is an exact replica of what is Leaving, but if someone is able to do such things as described and build on what was before to wedge us forward in our development it’s a bonus! It would also be great to get someone who is also familiar with electronic kits / pads and is also comfortable with future use of click for certain tracks or even Cajons! This just maximises our avenues of performance, for example some places may not have room for a full drum kit so using things such as pads may help if we ever wanted to play certain venues. (Adapting to environments is our insight for the band)
Further detail about the band’s operation can be discussed privately. But the short run of things to know is
We look to gig quite regularly (between 2-3 times a week) dependant on availability as some folk in the band do work on the side aha!
We look to rehearse once or twice a week. Possibly twice at the start so we can lock on with each other quickly.
Gigs will vary between Open Mic/Showcases, Festivals, Ticketed and Upfront/Functions. The current aim is to get exposure and an audience who will be willing to buy tickets so then we can make money.
We also like to be quite social outside of the band realms, going off to Maccies or a Jam locally after a rehearsal. Hanging out watching other acts at gigs and just doing other activities here and there when possible. We’re a family in addition to being a band.
I know all this is a lot and we’re so appreciative if you’ve read to the end.
If you are interested in joining, you meet the criteria and wanna get the ball rolling then please leave a comment or drop a DM showing your interest along with any content that showcases your skills on the drums!
You can also check out our Instagram (@divided_compass) where we have a few videos so you can see what we’ve previously been like. Also sets you up for practice!
