Sax/Guitar (50) wants Guitarist (and vocal would be good) to get together two sets of happy pub songs that make everyone sing and dance. For example, consider the range of possible songs here:
Baker Street
Come up and see me (make me smile)
Get it On
Hot Love
Our House
One Step Beyond
Common People – Pulp
Starman
Sorrow
Give a little bit (Supertramp)
Crazy little thing called Love
Rehab (Amy Winehouse version)
Valerie
Whisky in the jar (Thin Lizzy version)
I fought the law (and the law won - Clash version)
I’m a believer
Love is the drug
Together (Roxy Music)
You never can tell
Moondance
Rebel yell (Billy Idol)
White Wedding
Born to run
I kissed a girl and I liked it
Get Lucky (Daft Punk)
Play that funky music
Superstition
Shine on you crazy diamond (based on unplugged version)
Lets stick together (Al Green)
Anything by Ian Dury that is doable
Life on Mars
Perfect Day
Many others I haven’t thought of
Hit me baby one more time (it’s a laugh when people see me doing it – people join in)
I don’t know how to play all these songs (e.g. some I have only done the sax bits or guitar bits to and some I have just thought of), but they are all easily playable and I can do all sax or guitar bits to fit around another musician. Once two sets are established we would be in the driver’s seat to choose bass and drum players at our discretion and get gigs in a stable and lasting band.
Reliability is a must. Mature musician welcome. Younger and into this project is OK too.
Will reply by Sunday (with wife in London until then).
Hope to hear from you,
Al
