Calling bards, skalds, folk musicians and fantasy geeks - adventure awaits!
I'm a multi-instrument musician and composer with a background in a wide range of folk and percussion-based work, and a love of fantasy taverncore music. I'm looking for co-conspirators for a side project.
If you like Corvus Corax, Faun, Deloraine, Clannadonia, Clann An Drumma, German folk bands, mixed with fun, celtic/Irish folk with bouncy fun renfaire vibes, this might be the right project for you!
Some examples I'm looking for;
- bagpipes
- violin/fiddle
- frame drums and large drums (surdo/samba is helpful), or djembe/timbal/hand drums
- vocalists, bonus points if you are multi-lingual and especially if you can play and sing at the same time
- bouzouki, mandolin, and similar
- Any other medieval-appropriate instruments.
- Please, no guitar-only musicians, let's see what else you can bring to the table!
Energy and confidence is more important than your technical chops for something like this, but you should at least be able to hold a tune, keep in time, and have the ability to pick up musical ideas quickly, as well as a passion to learn and try new things.
Initial rehearsals may be monthly, with an expectation for remote practice as we are quite spread out, so it's open to anyone in the North West but you must have your own transport and be willing to travel.
Once we're at the performance stage there is an expectation of good-quality costumes (NOT fancy dress), but you get creative with it - what would your favourite D&D bard wear?
If this is your thing, message with some info on what you play, your background, and any links to content you've recorded if you have them, and we can discuss the project further!
