Relocated guitarist/composer/producer/engineer from Brooklyn NY. I've been sitting in with some bands since moving here my wife and daughter last August, but now that I have almost completed the final album by my band in the states, I am looking to actively start my own original projects here. The first step is to find a singer/songwriter to work with. I have a backlog of about 2 albums worth of material, most with melodies, that need lyrics and someone to sing them. The style spans bluegrass to R&B, jazz and soul [among the influences are Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Bill Frisell, Jorma Kaukonen and many others].
I'd rather work with women singers because I both prefer the timbre of women's voices and feel that women's ideas are extremely underrepresented in popular music. I want the lyrics to be political and unabashedly feminist. And I want the voice to be both fierce and breathtaking. You can get an idea of what I'm thinking by listening to some of the songs from my New York band The Sometime Boys - www.youtube.com/thesometimeboys . All of our albums are also available for streaming on every streaming service.
I also have a top quality home studio and have produced and recorded records for both myself and others for nearly 20 years. Recording and releasing material can come as quickly as we write it.
After finding a writing partner I think we can quickly fill out the other instrumentation and in the meantime we can just play duo gigs around Northern Ireland. I live on the north coast, but am happy to travel pretty much anywhere within reason.
