Hello all, I'm Carly, a 46 year old female singer. I haven't been on here for a few months due to lots of things going on in life, so my apologises to anybody who has tried to contact me. However, now things have calmed down, I can hopefully start to make some contacts with like minded musicians again.
So, why do I want to join a band at my age, well, why not?! I have wanted to do this for some time but as always life gets in the way. Now it's my turn to start living my life again & what better way to do that than to begin here.
I have no professional band experience but I do have a pretty powerful singing voice and a reasonable vocal range. When on evenings out I do get up on karaoke (yes, I know what you're thinking but I very rarely drink and how else can you get up and sing to a crowd of people without a band?) I'm therefore used to performing to an audience, I'm certainly not shy when it comes to being on a 'stage' and I generally get a very positive response.
I'm happy to turn my voice to most genres of music. I just don't do the high (Mariah Carey) high notes. I would say that my vocal style takes inspiration from female artists such as Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benater, Alanis Morissette, Alison Moyet, Pink, Joan Jett, and the like.
I have a varied music taste but am a particular fan of rock music, rockpop, folk, country and some punk.
Hoping to sing vocals for either an established band or a new start band to do some gigs of covers and possibly some original songs. I would also be happy to work with just one of two others as a smaller duo or trio music act. Please note that I can only sing, I cannot play any instrument at this time, although if things progressed I would be very interested in learning some bits on guitar.
I have my own transport and my own small sound equipment system. I am free most evenings and weekends for rehearsing and gigging.
Please get in touch if you think that I may be a good fit for your band. I really look forward to hearing from you and making some music together
