Hey.
The Shelf Side are a 4 piece (5 piece with a female singer) rock/pop wedding/function band based in the Wokingham area. We play currently about 20/30 gigs a year. Mainly pubs at the moment but do have occasional well paid weddings/private functions. Aim is to get less and less pub gigs and more and more functions!
We used to be a 5 piece (lead singer, guitarist, keys, bassist and drummer) but the guitarist now does lead and guitar which frees up a space in the band. We feel that a lot of the songs we do would really benefit from some great female vocals. We also aim to change the set a little to let the female singer do some lead songs.
our songs range from The Monkees I'm a believer to The Temper Trap - sweet disposition. It's a setlist full of classics!
So requirements:
- commitment! Main thing is learn the songs before rehearsals, turn up on time to rehearsals and gigs. STRICTLY NO IPADS / SHEET MUSIC for any rehearsals/gigs. Top cover bands don't use these.
- Help out with social media stuff like Facebook, Instagram
- Front man stuff! So engaging with the audience, filling in gaps for any changeovers in instruments for the other band members.
- musical knowledge is not essential but really helps. Just stuff like basic keys etc
- The band leader has all the gear so you won’t need a PA, mike etc. For weddings the band leader takes a cut for all organising, website, PL, PAT advertising etc.
- Appearance. The guys wear black shirt/green ties/ grey trousers. So a smart dress etc would be perfect.
- Be able to drive and have their own car to help carry equipment / get to rehearsals.
At the moment the dates you need to be able to do at the moment are Saturday 9th September at Jimstock festival Finchampstead and Friday October 27th at the Broad Street Tavern in Wokingham. We have bookings coming in that haven't been confirmed just yet.
We're all nice guys and have good attitudes
Look forward to hearing from you! We've got a few people interested at the moment so would like to sort an audition soon
Many thanks
James
