Firstly, yes I'm a Christian but I'm not necessarily looking for a band to be Christian as long as it doesn't conflict with my Christian faith.
I'm interested in Blues, Country Rock or modern Christian material.
Not looking at really Heavy Rock or anything that will mean straining and screeching, I've been there done that and don't really want to do it again.
Doesn't mean I don't want powerful and can't rock it up from time to time but I don't want it all the time.
I am a (young) 57 year old male with many years of singing in several genres and styles over the years.
I cut my teeth in my late teens with heavy and soft rock (mainly British but also American) and my influences were Queen, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, REO Speedwagon, Molly Hatchet, YES, Rush, Led Zep, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Styx etc.
As I grew older I got involved with some Soul (mainly putting vocals down in a studio).
I eventually ended up doing a bit of heavy R&B before taking a break for a few years due to career demands/shifts etc.
I came back but got into some soft/acoustic stuff before singing with a 4 piece jazz outfit doing posh restaurants etc. before then spending around 3 years singing as the principle male lead with a full size swing orchestra doing all the great american songbook as per Frank Sinatra etc.
I became a Christian around 9 years ago and since then have spent some time in Christian worship music but with a bias on moving it away from the traditional and more into the contemporary and often powerful material now on offer from the likes of Hillsong, Third Day, MercyMe, Newsboys etc.
I have now stepped away from singing in church but want to pursue something independent, to do something meaningful and worthwhile with my voice.
So...basically I am a very well rounded vocalist with a rich and powerful voice and can bring different styles and influences to the party, so to speak.
I'm not really looking to scream my throat out or strain myself on heavy rock/metal these days but can still rock it up when I want to. Perhaps I don't have the range or stamina I had in my 20's and 30's but more than make up for it with style and quality if that's what you're after?
I'm interested in doing something where I can actually sing not just shout and by no means can or will I dance or jump around like a poser or try to tell jokes to the audience.
I'm a singer not a performing dog so if you want young, pretty eye candy with an excessive ego that talks, pouts and strut's better than they sing then I'm not your man.
I'd describe my voice as raunchy (Rock/R&B), rich (Soul) and smooth when needed (years of crooning!)
If interested then please let me know via here in the first instance.
Thanks
Mac.
P.S. I have a job, my own transport, don't read music and don't have a PA (used to but sold it).
