Looking to put together a solid covers band playing crowd-pleasing music from the 50s through to the 80s. Think rock and roll, classic pop, easy listening — the stuff that fills dance floors at working men's clubs, pubs, and social clubs. Elvis, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry through to the singalong hits of the 70s and 80s. Not a heavy rock or originals project — this is about playing music people actually want to hear.
Gigging or just for fun? Honestly, I'm easy either way. I do this because I love it. If we end up gigging working men's clubs and pubs, brilliant. If we just have a great laugh at rehearsals and play for ourselves, that's equally good. Let's see what shape the band takes once we get the right people together.
About me: Been playing guitar for years, mainly rhythm with some lead, plus backing vocals. I've put bands together before so I know what works and what doesn't — which is why I'm being upfront about what I'm looking for.
Who I need:
Lead guitarist — tasteful player who knows the era, not a shredder
Bass player — solid, reliable, good timing
Drummer — keeps it tight, can play with feel rather than just power
Keyboard player (desirable but not essential) — would really lift the sound for this material
What I'm looking for in people:
Reliable — turn up to rehearsals when you say you will
Competent on your instrument — happy to have a play together first to see how we gel
Own gear, own transport
Sensible attitude, no egos, just there for the music and a good time
Based in Medway, Kent. Rehearsal location TBC depending on where everyone's coming from.
If that sounds like your thing, drop me a message with a bit about yourself, your playing experience etc.
Cheers,
Gary
