Experienced 'more mature' bass and double bass player looking for a new venture.
Just downsized with the bands I play with and also been depping for. I could name drop, but that is a bit tacky.
Many seem to know me, but none have vacancies for bass!
Already with one group that gigs about once a month and done lot of depping, but looking for something new and exciting
I'm not the world's greatest bass player, but do consider my self competent AND confident to get out and play. I've been playing long enough to know when a band is ready to gig and not just rehearse, I realise this sounds a bit big headed, but it's so frustrating knowing that there could be far more bands out there if they believed in themselves.
Yes, I'm now the wrong side of 50, but that didn't stop me from standing in for a younger Britpop/indie style band this year at short notice and depped for a few others, so don't let the age put you off.
I've been playing for 30+ years on bass and double bass, played most types of music in those years too and will turn my hand to almost anything so long as it is exciting to play.
I must admit I am tired of the same 30 numbers that all bands do and if I NEVER play Mustang Sally or Johnny B Goode again then that won't be soon enough. lol
Influences range from The Stranglers, Jam and Clash who I learnt to play the bass to to melodic rock, rock & roll (only on double bass) Brit Pop, Ska, R&B, Motown/Stax, funk and a variety of other stuff far too long to list.
I have all my own decent gear, car, and other spare kit as well.
I do play occasionally with a duo, but that takes just a few nights a year..
So, that's about it really. Hopefully there is someone out there who needs a decent rhythm section and can use me. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Some footage and pics of me here. https://www.facebook.com/andrew.gent.56
