DRUMS, BASS, LEAD GUITARIST (+ optional BACK UP VOCALIST) for a GRUNGE/METAL/ALT METAL inspired sound
Greetings, I am a Rhythm Guitarist, Vocalist and Lyricist. as the title suggests I'm looking to form a band in the essence of the grunge, alternative and I'd even add to the mix elements of progressive and just general heavy metal/rock scenes. My biggest priority is getting both a Drummer and a Bassist to complete the sound to my Guitar and Vocals. But additionally another guitarist with a lead focus and if possible one of the three capable to provide backup vocals for potential harmonies. My own personal biggest influences are - Alice in Chains, TOOL, Deftones, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Metallica, Linkin Park, Incubus, Audioslave/RATM, Nine Inch Nails
A BIT ABOUT ME AND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR IN A BAND-
I am looking to be making our own original music and to eventually get playing live as the forefront but I'm not opposed to doing a few covers especially to get us off the ground in the practise studio and perhaps a rotation of 1 or 2 for a live performance but this will NOT BE a cover band. I'm looking for creative minds to bounce ideas off with. I have been working on my own album and have about 8 or so songs at varying states of completion at the moment as well as a backlog of riffs and melodies. I have however posted 2 original demos with my guitars and vocals, Below is a link to them. it should give a little bit of an idea of my range as well as the kind of sound I'm going for -

Now in terms of experience. I'm 24, I've been a self taught guitarist playing on and off 10+ years with a primary focus on riffs and I've been honing my vocal range for the past 3 years with no official training, I have however learned a lot by messing around and finding out but I'm always looking to improve my range. I'm looking for people of a similar level and ideally roughly around the same age. I'd say about a range of 20-34 but it ultimately comes down to how you fit the sound and essence of the band
As a result of being self taught my writing methods may be a little unorthodox in that I haven't studied music theory, I don't write songs with a key in mind, it's very much based on feel and figuring it out instead. A lot of the riffs I typically write seem to end up as slightly odd time signatures and feature subtle tempo changes so I'd need those capable and interested in that, but of course there's still nothing wrong with a classic 4/4 track. Having someone who does have more knowledge on theory could certainly be helpful.
I've also not actually got that much experience jamming with other people. With just a couple of sessions under my belt, but most certainly looking to change that and keep improving my on the spot improvising. I'm always happy to take someone's riff/beat/melody home after a session and see what I can add to it in-between. I have performed live solo in front of 100+ people at a family wedding as well as a couple bars. In general I'm looking to make more musical connections within the local scene to gather more options for gigs, although it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get gigs regardless if we put together more demos and contact venues when we're ready.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF INTERESTED-
-Message me about your own level of experience, how long you've played your instrument for, what kind of techniques you like to use, if you've played in a live setting, what kind of projects you may have been apart of
-Send some kind of demo of your abilities, doesn't have to be studio quality but just to give a decent enough idea, feel free to improvise over my demo's like you would in a practise session
-Tell me what bands inspire how you play
Thanks for taking the time to read. I'll be looking to see what kind of replies there are before I fully figure out things like potential auditions, likely will be held in a Glasgow practise studio after having a chat and finding a suitable group to jam with.
