At present this is one mans project, I have no interest in trying to be ear candy. To me, the really exciting bands are the ones that dare to be outspoken, and do the right thing, and not compromise their art just to be popular. I'm not creating party music here.
The primary purpose of this band is to stand up to the biggest dictatorship in the world and expose what it does to a peaceful nation as it rises to global domination. Hence the name Lhasa Calling, Lhasa being the capital of Tibet, Tibet being under oppression for a whole f*cking 70 years while the world still looks on and we do nothing, allowing the Chinese Government to get away with murder as our British government bows down to them and the world becomes less democratic, less free, and the good guys get thrown behind bars or tortured for standing up for what is right. So knowing this, why the f*ck would i want to go to live my life and be in a band that just made people have a good night out and dance? Not a chance. Music is the most powerful form of expression/art and its either do something useful with it or just don't bother, 'cause there is enough bands out there doing the same bland stuff without purpose or vision. That's a lot of people going to the grave having not really stood up for anything good with their music but got drones of zombies for fans, and get well paid for their 'entertaining'. And they call that success. Hah.
As for the song material - I had to do the whole f*cking lot, everything from writing the songs, putting down the drum tracks, playing bass and guitars, to the singing, and the mixing and mastering, (which isn't too spectacular but also not too shabby and serves it job which is to give you a rough idea of the stuff I'm looking to bring to life as a full band)
You can hear the songs @ Soundcloud - "Lhasa Calling" and the band page can be found via www.facebook.com/lhasacalling
