DRUMMER WANTED by TOP ESSEX BLUES BAND Chelmsford

THE SONS OF ILLINOIS is a high-quality band, playing an exciting variety of electric Chicago Blues with a hunk o' Swamp Blues thrown in for good measure. Our repertoire is very diverse; classic 'Chess'-style material mixed with funky grooves and a whole range of tempos and dynamics! Line-up of the band is vocals/harmonicas, guitar/vocals, guitar, bass guitar/upright bass and drums/percussion

We are looking for a quality, proven DRUMMER to quickly join our ranks; the previous occupant of the drum seat was unable to commit to the gig and rehearsal schedule - we have great gigs in the diary throughout the rest of 2026, at decent venues and festivals (incl. some of the best Blues 'houses' in Essex and Herts) and the gigs are sensibly paid too!

The guys in the band are professionally-minded, but we are very friendly sorts travelling from far and wide to make this happen. This is a serious project though and, to fit in with the band's schedule, you'll need to be a genuine committed dude and be willing to be flexible. Initially, to come up to speed with the repertoire, you'll need to commit to a run of weekly Sunday afternoon rehearsals in a superb studio in Chelmsford. Thereafter, rehearsals will only be occasional when new material is added to the repertoire.

A fully-funded recording project is planned for later this year. As you might expect, we are equipped with our own PA system.
