Drummer Seeks Original Band - Toured with Radiohead & Reef.
I am an experienced drummer looking for an original band / set of musicians / songwriters to play with and create some songs with a view to gigging and possibly even recording.
I am based in South Yorkshire.
Willing to travel throughout Yorkshire and surrounding counties for the right band with the right vibe and attitude
Preferred Styles:
Rock, Alternative, Melodic & original material...all considered.
I've got a ton of LIVE experience and some decent studio experience.
I am very capable at helping to write songs and jamming them into what they need to become
Experience
I've played on tours with bands such as Reef and Radiohead over the years so no stranger to the 'bigger stuff' especially in front of large audiences.
I've also played a ton of clubs on the 'toilet circuit' too so no stranger to the smaller venues.

Style / Influence
*******************
My influences are varied but I'd say my style is more rock, alternative, melodic, pop etc.
If I had to 'pigeon hole' myself I'd say my style and preferred styles are akin to my main influences which include:
Ben from Biffy Clyro
Stewart Copeland from the Police
Brad Wilk from Rage Against the Machine
Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters
Jimmy from Smashing Pumpkins
Mike Bordin from Faith no More
Carter from Dave Matthews Band
Danny Carey from Tool
and
Tim Alexander from Primus
That should give you an idea.
I'm a 90's dude and grew up on all theses guys above.
I 'DO' listen and play more for the song rather than someone just keen to blow unnecessary chops all over the place just for the sake of it.
Locking in with the bass player is 90% the way with a bit of off-piste but only when required.
Our last manager said 'I bring a kind of pop-sensibility to heavy sh*t'...I'll take it!
As Dave Grohl famously once said: 'A band is only ever as good as their drummer.' So I try my best to make 'US' sound as good as possible.
I'd say I'm more of a hard hitter with a solid and loud, driving sound with great timing and instinct and some decent chops in the bag when needed.
Yes...I can play double kick and have the equipment to do this but...I'm not looking for a band that is non-stop double kick blast beats all the time as though a Chinook helicopter is landing on your head. I can do it BUT I prefer rhythms more akin to Rage Against the Machine's style with flourishes like Primus and tribal onslaughts like Tool thrown in if that makes sense?
If you want endless double kick, metal stylee blast beats...I'm not your guy.
No stranger to the writing process and coming up with original ideas or using time signatures and alternative grooves if needed.
I'm no Mike Portnoy but I can handle most time signatures and 'odd' sections within reason if needed and if you are more 'prog' but if it's all in 9/17...then 5/17 and then 7/9...chill out ya crazy bugger and also...again, I'm probably not your guy but happy searching all the same. I like to have a laugh and not take it (music) or myself too seriously...music is meant to be fun and I've no time for negative folk who take themselves too seriously.
Serial whingers or complainers...scroll on, I'm not your guy.
Slack-arses who don't pull their weight are also not my bag. Music is primarily meant to be fun but it also does take work so I prefer bands with who get that and are willing and able to put the time in if it's going well.
I like well written songs that are well thought out.
I LOVE jamming...the cornerstone of writing IMO.
I'm ambitious too.
I'm self employed so I have freedom of my time and for the right band I'm willing to go the extra mile and tour and even look towards getting signed.
I had a good run in my teens and twenties and played a lot of great venues with some really great 'big' bands like Radiohead and Reef.
Then kids, family came along and I was committed to that but now I want to be back in the game.
No total beginners please.
No cover bands please.
Been there done that...I'm not your guy.

About You
*************
I've tried to include as much as I can on here for you to get to know *ME* and hopefully make a fairly decent yes / no / good fit / not good fit situation for you.
Not gonna lie, every time I advertise on here I get swamped in my inbox...good drummers must still be rare it seems
I've been open and honest to help you make your decision.
If you are still reading and are thinking: 'Yup, this sounds like our guy' then here is what to do next...
a) Send me a quick message introducing yourself and your current situ. Band set up, location, style, how long been going, age etc
b) Let me know what you are looking for and what level of commitment and ambition you have...meaning how far are you looking to take this?
c) Send some links (any) to some of your current or previous stuff so that I can confirm if we are a good fit musically...(I don't care about quality I just wanna feel out where things are for you and if my style can compliment it)
d) Point me at some 'visuals' of you either via photos or videos or any social media if you have them.
e) Let me know if you need anything else from me.
Here's a link to some of my original stuff from a long time ago...pop and heavier stuff.
