We are 2 guitarists seeking a reggae/jazz idiosyncratic drummer to accompany us through our repertoire of blues/soul/rocknroll/folk/country/psychedelic numbers. Our formula is one of taking great songs and putting our own stamp on them and we play kinda slow and groovy. improvisation and taking jams into weird territory is always encouraged. We are looking for a drummer who is going to bring his own thing into the mix. Our jams often veer into funky grooves, so GROOVE and FEEL is a must. We value groove and timekeeping over flashy technique, flamboyancy and excess. If you have a snappy bandname let us hear it! :0
We are looking to get stuff ready to perform- but want to get very tight before such a thing happens. Think leisure pace rehearsals, 420 o clock, and an adventurous, intrepid approach.
You must enjoy having fun !
We have been jamming together for over 10 years. I have a strong rhythm hand, decent fingerpicking and consider myself to be a (fledgling but able) bluegrass flat-picker) My roles are usually rhythm guitar, the major scale/myxolydian leads, and soulful vocals. My friend is a shithot lead player with good versatility but a specialism in electric blues.
My influences (include, but are not limited to) The Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, The Small Faces, The Band, Nirvana, Pavement, Smashing Pumpkins, Chuck Berry, Leadbelly, Sonny Boy Williamson, Big Bill Broonzy, Rev. Gary Davis, Doc Watson, David Grisman, Clarence White, Jerry Garcia, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Redding, Allman Bros. Band, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan. Quality rap/hip hop.
as for my friend, he digs artists like Hendrix, Cream, Clapton, BB King, Beatles, Leadbelly, Grateful Dead, Iggy and the Stooges, Funkadelic, Parliament, Otis Redding, The Faces, Humble Pie, The Kinks plus many more greats
Our setup is either unplugged acoustic, or one plugged in with electric guitar- therefore we think we need brushes rather than sticks (for rehearsal) . We want a bass player too, but a drummer is what we really need to get going with this.
We are, of course, looking to beef up and electrify once our sound is tight like a nun's chuff. We have some howlingly bad bandnames, so please give us your worst suggestions to go with
safe.
