Everything from big sing-a-long chorus's to catchy syncopated rhythms in everything from 4/4 to 10/8, with a varying dynamic range exploring both those sombre quiet moments and those moments that inspire you to put your fist through the nearest wall.
Here is a list of all of the genre's that go into the music I create. Not necessarily all of them in everything single song, but when you span across say a 10 song 40 minute setlist (Oh yeah some of the songs a barely two minutes long) you will come out with all of these:
Hardcore Punk
Post-Hardcore
Emo
Pop-Punk
Brit-Pop
Surf Rock
Math Rock
Alternative Rock
Grunge
Katy Perry/ Taylor Swift (Think songs like Hot 'n' Cold and Shake It Off. The style of strong rhythm with a catchy, quirky vocal is definitely used within a lot of the music I write. I get that this will put people off, but if you want to be in a one note band then this isn't the one for you. I like to explore all aspects of music, including pop, albeit only harmonically, not stylistically, as you can see by all of the other music that goes into this. Moving on.)
Progressive Rock
Dream Pop
Shoegaze
80's revival
What might help shed a light onto the kind of music I am trying to create here is the knowledge that my favourite band is probably Biffy Clyro, and so I guess you could say they're my largest inspiration. I followed them as a huge fan, being introduced to them in 2010 with their entire discography of which I listened to in chronological order. Although I felt some soul was lost within Only Revolutions, I still stand by it being a fantastic album, and think the same os Opposites. That being said, I was absoloutely flawed by their first three, with their barely being a dull moment spanning the entire albums - through singles - through B-sides.
So I guess, if you imagined everything single Biffy Clyro album crammed into a band, I guess it'd sound very similar to this one.
I need someone committed to regular rehearsals, with an optimal two a week when we first start and once we get gigging slowing it down to just one a week.
I have contacts to book shows all over the country and good contacts in regards to recordings and, if you hadn't gathered already, am looking to take this somewhat seriously, and so I'm looking for someone of a similar disposition to myself in this regard.
I'm 22, and looking for something ideally between 18 and 25, though being over 18 is essential for me to consider you joining the project, being under 25 is not and I will consider people towards 30. Past that, I find there's too much of a generational gap that can cause some difficult to see coming problems as soon as things start to get off the ground.
Get in touch if any of this interests you, though bare in mind when you message me saying "How about we play some nu-metal?" I'm probably not going to take you very seriously.
Despite the style of writing I chose to apply to this ad I'm actually not a serious person at all when it comes to anything but my music, and even within that, I don't take it too seriously. I only take the business end of it and the musicianship seriously, everything else I believe you need to just allow everyone's personalities to shine through, and you'll notice that as soon as we meet and chat.
