Hey, I'm starting an alternative rock band! I have a bassist, just need the rest of the UNIT. I am in the middle of recording two possible singles with a friend of mine, so we will have a base to start from potentially! Looking for people aged 19 - 26!
Influences include: Pixies, Baby in Vain, Blur, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Yuck, LVL UP, Elvis Depressedly, The Smashing Pumpkins, Ringo Deathstarr (Less shoegaze though), Bright Eyes, The Rentals, (early) Weezer, Father John Misty, Ovlov, Dinosaur Jr. If this resonates with you, you've got a damn good music taste!
Aesthetically (Music Vids/merch/Promo etc) we're going for a slightly 80s/90s Sci Fi B-Movie type look. Less Stranger Things, more Repo Man.
Although I've started writing for this project already, I am completely happy with the band itself being a creative atmosphere with new ideas and directions being thrown around. That includes any songs you may have come up with yourself being worked on if you think they fit the style. The more the merrier basically! It would be preferable if, were you to join, this band wis your main MUSICAL priority, but I completely understand the need for multiple projects/bands - so I'll try and be flexible with that if needs be!
Now onto the instruments!
Drummer - Needs to have their own kit or access to one. Currently it looks like we'll be using electronic drums as well, so it would be great to have experience in that! Other than that, just so long as you're able to keep rhythm and you're an amicable person, I'd be happy to try you out!
Guitarist - Needs to be able to switch between rhythm and lead guitar. Looking for chunky, fuzzy riffs, but also some nice, nuanced soft playing on some songs. It would be great to have someone who is great with achieving ace tones from amps and pedals, seeing as I am not that good at it... But yeah, just someone who knows their stuff basically.
Synthezoid/Synthyperson/Synthesizer - I have a Korg Minilogue if needed, but it would be great if you had your own synth to add some variety! Again there will be some lead parts and some parts that will be pads. It would be great if you had a good ear for new melodies that can sit under the rhythm on some parts. Looking for someone that's quite competent!
NOTE: If any of you can sing backing vox that would be f***king great.
But yeah, if you're interested please attach some videos or tracks of your past bands/projects so that we can get a feel for ya! If we like the sound of you, we'll meet up and see where things go! We know this stuff can be a bit intimidating so we'll try and make it as easy as possible!
