I'm currently looking for a drummer and bassist to help form the first full lineup of The Beautiful Dead, a new Manchester-based post-hardcore / emo / alternative project.
At the moment, The Beautiful Dead is just me. I'm the vocalist and I'm currently writing/developing the original material, demos, concept and overall direction for the band.
I'm now looking for the right people to turn it from a solo project into an actual band.
Influences include My Chemical Romance, Pierce The Veil, Breaking Benjamin, Green Day and similar bands — melodic, emotional, theatrical, heavy when it needs to be and written with live crowds in mind.
There are already original songs and demos in development, but I'm not looking for people to simply turn up and play parts I've already decided.
I want the eventual lineup to help shape what The Beautiful Dead becomes.
DRUMMER WANTED
Someone comfortable with energetic punk/post-hardcore sections as well as slower, heavier and more atmospheric moments.
Feel and dynamics matter more to me than playing a million notes a minute. Knowing when to hold back and when to absolutely f***king send it is exactly what I'm after.
BASSIST WANTED
I want the bass to actually have a personality.
Melodic basslines, aggressive sections, fills and bringing your own ideas to songs are all encouraged. I'm not looking for someone who's just going to quietly copy the guitar.
WHO I'M LOOKING FOR
- 18+
- Manchester / Greater Manchester or able to travel here regularly
- Own gear
- Able to rehearse regularly
- Interested in writing original music
- Comfortable eventually recording and gigging
- Willing to contribute creatively
- Reliable and actually interested in building something long-term
You don't need an impressive CV or loads of previous band experience. Commitment, creativity and whether we actually work well together matter much more.
I'll be hosting auditions soon for prospective members, with material to learn beforehand as well as an opportunity to show what you can bring creatively.
