SoOoo then…
I’m looking for an exciting new project in Cambridge or the surrounding area’s, either with an existing band or enthusiastic new band members in the 30-40 ‘ish age range🤗
ABOUT ME:
I’ve been drumming on and off now for over 20-years so I’m experienced but still very young at heart and FUN-loving too.
My main musical preferences are quite grungey rock / metal combined with elements of hip-hop too. Also I prefer a much more laid-back, syncopated style of drumming with beats that really groove as opposed to being ‘overly technical’ and flashy!
I strive to achieve musical composition as opposed to just mindlessly ramming drum beats into every single bar!
I mainly ‘play by ear’ so I’m quite versatile and able to improvise.
A good example of the kind of sound that I LOVE is exemplified by the rhythm section of Rage Against The Machine which I think is absolutely phenomenal !!
Tim Commerford‘s melodic style of playing ‘in your face’ distorted bass together with Brad Wilk’s very deliberate yet relatively uncomplicated chops are devastatingly effective and are certainly loud enough to raise the dead !!
My favourite singers are:
Chris Cornell - Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Audioslave
Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam
Myles Kennedy - Alter Bridge
Scott Weiland - Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver
Layne Staley - Alice In Chains
Of course there are LOTS more singers that I love too but the point is that if YOU can sing like any of the above legends then PLEASE get in touch !!
My FAV bands;
Rage Against The Machine
Audioslave
Prophets of rage
Soundgarden
Temple Of The Dog
Linkin Park
Incubus
Guano Apes
System Of A Down
Stone Temple Pilots
Alice In Chains
Bush
Foo Fighters
Nirvana
The Police
Chevelle
Pearl Jam
Chili Peppers
Metallica
Creed
Limp Bizkit
Nothing But Thieves
Kings Of Leon
Weezer
Papa Roach
Black Sabbath
Biffy Clyro
No Doubt
Skunk Anansie
… as well as lots of 70’s - 90’s pop / rock stuff too just as long as it’s FuNkY!
Previously I have played in 2 tribute bands and I would consider doing that again along the lines of a grunge -legends tribute.
I was also once the lead singer & songwriter for an indie rock covers / originals band so I have a few dark ‘edgy’ songs which I would love to breathe some new life back into.
I have my own mini-van & drums and I’m able to meet up for rehearsals at least once a week, possibly more which could also include daytimes too as I am self-employed so VERY flexible.
I’m looking for a great bunch of like-minded guys / gals that are up for being creative and having a musical blast together!
If you’re interested, please get in touch and let’s start the conversation!
PS: If you want to see how I look & sound, then you can check out my scratchy recordings on my Insta: Skippythomson
BE WARNED… they are VERY scratchy indeed as they were recorded using an old iPhone 4 also I was playing an out-of-tune studio hired kit !
Cheers,
Skippy 😎
