I’ve got an album I’ve been working on for a while now, all but ready to go but then I couldn’t find a drummer or bass player. I can play the bass lines myself as I have a synth guitar set up, but I don’t really ‘feel’ the bass or I would have chosen to play it, the same with drums. I’ve just ordered a DD70 drum pad, comes with a stand and kick pedals, which also solves the recording problem as it’s small, can be silent, I can hook it up to Cubase. I may well have to learn to play the drums myself arghhhhh.... and to tell the truth, as I play a hybrid electric/acoustic guitar, the guitaring is already pretty percussive, so the beat is really just to drive and fill and NO a drum machine is not going to work, it’s too pedantic.
However, I would like to collaborate with other musicians, especially if they sing, at the very least harmonising backing vocals. I have a fair few tracks ready to go, they are not rigid, any ideas that sound good will be great and welcome, so yes it’s a shared project, I’m also willing to work on any original tracks.
So...... who wants to come and record an album with me, all it will cost is time, the drum pad will be here..
I’m older I have to say this, as I know it matters (57), but not one of those Marks and Spencer old people, in my mind I just left school the other day..... funny that people much younger than me often talk to me as if I am younger, do I look young? I think it’s more the WAY I am... I still ride a motorbike and possibly ride way too fast getting the edge of my tyres on city roundabouts LOL... unless you are a copper and then I never ride fast, I always respect the speed limit.
I’m all set up with cubase on a PC ready to go.....
At the very least it will be good practice and experience for someone at no cost other than time, and when you think about time, I spent a year trying to master a Beat Buddy pedal that cost more than the DD70, and even the integral drum machine in Cubase before that....If I had bought a drum pad and taught myself basic drumming back then, the album would be done by now....
For whoever comes, they will learn how to record with Cubase and have the experience of formatting an album for future projects of their own.
