Hey everyone, so a project I’ve wanted to create for a while is a politically incorrect protest band — but something that actually produces genuine songs. I find so much modern anti-regime music quite cheesy and uninspiring (though I appreciate the sentiment).
I’m in my mid-thirties, but I am a veteran of the Great Meme War and I’m fairly steeped in dissident online culture. I would be looking for people of a similar inclination — my age or younger to be fair, but I’m open to any inquiries. Hit me up zoomers, lol!
I have several half-finished songs that I think have some potential — though they all need work. Some are more overtly political than others, but one of the aims is to create music that speaks to people in a general way through metaphor and doesn’t rely on whatever’s “trending” at any given time — while still being unabashedly anti-regime.
The songs I have are, in some instances, serious social/civilisational commentary, while others are more tongue in cheek and lighthearted — there is at least one song that deals with trending topics and mentions Donald Trump etc.
Feel free to bring your own material as well.
My working band name is Feels Band, or Feelz Band — playing on the “feels bad, man” Pepe catchphrase, also a pun on “feels banned” as a comment on the highly restrictive society we live under when it comes to speaking your mind. It’s also a nod to the “feels guy” wojak.
The intention is that it is young, fun and relatable to a wide audience while also broaching serious topics and systemic issues in the country and across the western world in general.
I’m after a basic electric back line, then anything is cool tbh. I play a few instruments including acoustic guitar, piano accordion, clawhammer banjo, tenor uke, percussion etc. and I’m happy to swap around or play whatever.
I’m not a hugely strong singer but I can get away with it if necessary…
If this appeals to you, drop me a message!
