The Microdance is seeking a guitarist!
This is a long post, but if you like the sound of this and are serious, you may want to read the whole thing ????
Please only respond to this if you read the full advert, have listened to our music and love it and being in a band with at least some of my influences appeals to you!
TMD is an alt rock band - in my view alt rock encompasses all of the silly little genres people squabble over - shoegaze, new wave, post punk, dream pop, heavy as hell stuff, acoustica etc. A decent alt rock band should be able to cover all of that.
Influences include: Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, The Cure, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Silversun Pickups, The Joy Formidable, My Bloody Valentine, Catherine Wheel, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, Death Cab For Cutie, Pearl Jam, Amusement Parks on Fire.
Those are some of the artists whose sounds make it into our music, there is a lot more stylistically/genre wise that I love.
Ability to play tricky parts (not looking for a virtuoso!) and a selection of effects - reverb, delay, chorus, distortion, overdrive are essential. The music is very textured tonally.
BV's would be a bonus but not essential. If you're female that is even more desirable as the songs have female BV's.
Probably the best place to get an idea of what we're about is a two hour radio show I curated of just our music. That can be heard here: https://eardrumbuzzradio.podbean.com/e/alex-keevill-of-the-microdance-guest-dj-set/
If you don't want to hear me rambling between songs, I'll arbitrarily send you here:

There's a lot more variety in my music than is conveyed in that album.
Our music is unanimously five star reviewed to see some press clippings go here: www.themicrodance.com/press
In the interest of honesty and openness, I am putting the band back together from scratch and need a drummer and bassist as well (making progress on both fronts!) The idea being that if I find a guitarist first, we can start gigging as a light edition playing stripped down versions of our songs.
The band was really going places - we had a west coast tour with Silversun Pickups booked and were selling out top London venues - but a series of anomalous life circumstances for me put a stop proceedings. For this reason, Spotify streams, Youtube plays etc are a fraction of what they should be.
I take my music very seriously, but not myself; I welcome silliness (as can be seen in the video linked) - so being in this band can be fun!
Cheers!
