Basically, I’m looking to start a band with the means of getting reasonably successful, mainly through the means of racking up a decent view count on YouTube, Spotify, etc.
A relatively new band called The Pale White hail from nearby Newcastle, and they have already gained a MASSIVE following on Spotify and caught the attention of big names such as the one and only Dave Grohl (apparently so, I heard that in their only video interview on YouTube and can’t find a source, but it’s most likely true) with their brand of nostalgic, hard hitting tunes.
I think that, I, and four others, plus help from more, stand a chance of replicating their success.
I’m looking to form a five piece band consisting of one of the standard band setups (that is, a hard hitting, metronomic drummer, a guitar player, a bass player and a singer), along with a synth player/producer/performer somewhere along the lines of Andy Morin of Death Grips.
I will take on the role of the singer and be one of the primary songwriters of the band, but I’ll obviously accept input from all members of the band and beyond.
I will spare you the long list of influences I have and just say that my two biggest influences on “doing music” are Nirvana and System of a Down, with Death Grips being third.
Now, I don’t expect to be half as successful or influential as any of those bands, but if my band could become as successful as The Pale White have, I will consider that a major milestone and a stepping stone onto something bigger.
Musically, a mix of System of a Down and Nirvana is the best way I can describe the way I want my sound to be. There are things those bands did right and things they did wrong, and I think we could work on what they did right and wrong and make something good for everyone.
They’re two of the biggest names in rock music for a reason, and I think it’s about time someone else improved on what they did. Legacy and influence has a major effect on popular music.
If you think you’re up for this, send me a message and I’ll elaborate a bit more (if I haven’t enough already, lol).
Thanks for reading, if you’re even reading this 😊
