We’re putting together a professional Wedding, Function and Party Band based around the Worcester and wider Midlands area, and we’re looking for an experienced, confident bass player to join us.
This will be a professional working band, with regular paid gigs through a booking agent once material is show ready. We’re looking at a minimum of £200 per person per gig, with the potential for more as the band develops.
We’ll be covering weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and potentially festivals, with a set focused mainly around Rock and Pop. However, we’re keen to avoid the usual function band setlists wherever possible. Rather than playing exactly the same songs every other function band is playing, we want to dig a little deeper and include the big tunes that often get overlooked.
We already have guitars, vocals, and drums sorted, with everyone having plenty of experience playing this kind of gig. We’re now looking for a bassist who is confident performing live, learns material well, and has reliable professional gear.
Backing vocals and harmonies would be a big bonus, but aren’t essential.
Musically, we’re particularly interested in building a set that appeals to people in their 30s. Alongside the usual Rock and Pop material, we’re looking at incorporating Emo, Pop Punk, Indie, and big hits from around 15 to 20 years ago, as well as some more unexpected choices.
We’ve all played the standard function repertoire for years, so the idea is to put together something that feels a bit fresher and, importantly, is actually enjoyable for us to play.
Initially, there will be regular rehearsals while we get the set tight. Once we’re gigging and have the set established, the plan is to primarily play shows and only book rehearsals when needed, such as when making significant changes to the setlist.
What we’re looking for:
• Experienced, confident live bassist
• Reliable and professional approach
• Own reliable gigging gear
• Able to learn a set of material to a professional standard
• Able to drive, as gigs will inevitably be outside major towns and cities
• Backing vocals and harmonies are a bonus
• Based within reasonable travelling distance of Worcester / the Midlands
We are all male professional musicians in our 30s but all ages and genders welcome!
If this sounds like your kind of thing, get in touch with a bit about yourself, your playing experience, and ideally some examples of you playing. Shoot me over any questions you may have.
