Bassist seeking to form Funk/Soul/RNB/Pop Band. Covers/Origs Glasgow

Do you like music that gets everyone up and dancing? Funk, soul, disco, four to the floor? Do you like the idea of taking songs from the rock, indie and pop canon and putting an interesting and funky twist on them? Are you interested in building a set that covers loads of fun stuff but also has some original material in it too? If so, read on - this project might be for you.

My name is Dan, I am 31 and have just moved back to Glasgow after a long period away. Main gigging instrument is the bass and I have played in a good number of bands over the years - doing alt. Rock stuff and the poppier bar band side of things.

This project I would see much more on the funk/disco/bar band side of things than on the rock influences would be stuff like James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Vulfpeck, Jamiroquai, SAULT, Lack of Afro, Khraungbin, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, etc!

We need a strong core to start off with and then we can look at expanding out to the horn/saxophone players of Glasgow (although if you do play horns or sax and this sounds good - get in touch!!). Instruments/sounds needed….

Voice/front woman or man
Guitar (if you’re reading this and like the stuff above and own a wah pedal this is prob for you!)
Drums
Piano/Keys

In terms of commitment and aspirations…. I’m not looking for world domination here, have a steady 9-5 at the minute and there’s no desire to go super pro. I’ll settle for being one of the better bar bands in the Glasgow area and having loads of fun. Ideally though, you’ll be able to commit to roughly 1x rehearsal a week. From previous hard experience …. Getting into situations where you’re only practicing 1x a month… or the drummer can’t make every second practice… etc etc… kills momentum and makes it harder to get gigs (the really fun bit)
