Myself (female guitarist and sings) and drummer (male) got together recently and have started jamming some ideas. We'd love to get a bassist onboard as soon as possible.
We're playing mainly original material, grungy, indie rock with a dash of punk. We're both open minded about how the project should go and aren't necessarily set on sounded too much like anyone in particular. The direction we're taking is heavy in places, melodic in others, my guitar playing sounds like J Mascis from Dinosour Jnr (according to drummer Steve, he's probably right!) He plays amazing pounding drums and keeps a really solid beat.
Our influence is a range from original punk, Pistols etc to 80's electronic Depeche Mode, New Order, and 80's new wave and indie Adam Ant, The Cure and The Cramps to the classic grunge bands Dinosaur Jnr, Mudhoney, Babes in Toyland, Sleater Keneay, Nirvana and 90's indie and alternative Blur, Pavement and Sonic Youth.
We also like up to date stuff too! I love up coming bands like False Heads, The Blinders, Calva Louise and Avalanche Party. Steve likes Kittie, Sleep and Destroy Angels and we both like Pigs, pigs, pigs, pigs, pigs, pigs, pigs.
These band lists can go on for ever, I hope this gives you an idea of what we're about!
We are an 'older ' band, Steve is 40 apparently and I apparently look 31, I'm not! We're totally open to any age and gender (I'd love a female bassist!) so don't be put off by our age or if you are a bit older, don't worry, we don't play too fast!!
It's a great opportunity to join something in its infancy so not tons of pre-written material to learn and a chance to get involved in writing and your parts. Would be a plus if you can sing btw!
At the moment we're practicing on Saturdays in East London and would like to maintain that level of commitment. We work Mon-Fri but could possible do a week night.
Get in touch if this sounds like your bag!!
