Hi everyone,
I'm a bassist based in Belfast looking to see what's out there. This is a bit of an experiment for me, but I'm genuinely interested in finding like-minded musicians to write and play original music with.
Although I'm playing bass, my background is probably more like a rhythm guitarist. I enjoy writing songs, coming up with riffs, and developing arrangements rather than endlessly jamming. I can jam, of course, but I tend to work best by listening to ideas, taking some time to develop the parts, and then bringing them back to everyone to build on together. I'm always open to feedback and enjoy collaborating once the foundations are there.
My influences are mainly bands like Tool, Black Sabbath, and heavier rock with atmospheric or ambient elements. I'm open to experimenting with different sounds, but punk isn't really my thing, although I can appreciate it. I'm also not particularly interested in being a cover band because I enjoy creating original music.
At the moment I have a 5-string Ibanez bass and a home recording setup, so I can record bass parts with high-quality amp and effects simulations and send ideas back and forth while songs are being developed. If things progress to rehearsals and gigs, I'm happy to invest in whatever equipment is needed.
A little about me: I'm a young and healthy 48 and easy going. I like to keep a good balance between music, training, and everyday life. I train in kickboxing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, so I'd be available to rehearse or work together on other evenings or Saturdays. I don't use drugs, and while I enjoy the occasional drink, I'm not into heavy partying or getting drunk.
If I commit to something, I take it seriously, so I'm looking for people who enjoy making good music together and can rely on one another.
One thing to mention is that I don't currently drive, so I'd ideally be looking for something based in the Belfast area that's reasonably accessible. Or if we're across the water, we can communicate online if, or until things move forward to performing. Unless we just turn out to be a virtual band or something which I don't mind as well.
If you're looking for someone who's interested in writing original music, collaborating creatively, and seeing where it goes, feel free to get in touch.
